Okay, so this one isn’t a new song, it’s a really old song, but this is definitely a new version of it. In my humble opinion, Amazing Grace is the greatest and most relevant song ever written. The hymn, written by John Newton, was published in 1779, and mostly circulated through churches, as it was not recorded for circulation publicly until 1922. Imagine that. By 1922, Amazing Grace was already there in the public domain to be used freely by any and all. This basically means that every version of Amazing Grace is a cover, including this one here.

It’s easy to make this song sound good, because it’s perfectly written, a masterpiece. Technically, the most recorded song of all time is George Gershwin’s “Summertime”, which shows you oddly just how prominent jazz music once was. While that is objectively another technically excellent song, it will have long since been forgotten while Amazing Grace is still being sung an untold number of times every day in churches across the world. As far as the most sung song of all time, it might even have “Happy Birthday” beat. But hey, that one is still privately owned somehow, so pay your royalties!
